Solutions - Sealant

The picture to the left shows a flue in need of a sealant, as you can see the render has started to corrode and fall off. Over time this process will start work on the mortar between the bricks creating gaps for smoke and gas to escape, eventually causing a major threat to the integrity of the flue itself. This problem is usually diagnosed by debris falling into the grate, usually on houses under 60 years old.

The flue was first scraped and swept with specialist wire brushes to remove any existing loose render and to help the sealant to obtain a good key to the brickwork. The sealant is sprayed through a rotating head under pressure to ensure that the whole of the flue is coated leaving a perfect ceramic seal several millimetres thick. Sealant is impervious to heat and acid corrosion. Sealant is guaranteed for 25 years.
